I tracked down a copy of the 2006 DVD that contained on it the original theatrical release of this film and the two big noticeable differences from the Special Editions that I grew up with were in the musical department, first there is no extended musical number in Jabba's palace, which is certainly better than its Special Edition counterpart as it helps keep the pace of the movie going. And while I do think that the movie is better without the various scenes from across the galaxy celebrating the defeat of the empire (and no Jar-Jar shouting "Weesa Free!"), I do feel that the change in music that the ewoks are celebrating with away from Yub Nub was for the better, that music in the special edition feels a lot more celebratory to me than Yub Nub. Still it was great seeing the film as it was originally cut, which made it worthwhile to track down this DVD.
