Appropriation, whether it's Adam Driver absorbing the preferred qualities of those around him or Naomi Watts jubilantly dipping into a hip-hop class. Most of the generational humor is pretty easy, though Baumbach keeps the bulk of it light until a brutal third act.
There's existential terror and then there's a two second shot of Charles Grodin staring into a bowl of Oreos. Spoiler alert: I almost lost my mind.
