As expected, Villenueve can make movies look and sound gorgeous. But, somewhat similar to Blade Runner 2049, there is still a bit of sterility and emotional detachment to the characters. Coupled with the complexity of the characters and factions that rivals season 1 of Game of Thrones and you have a superb audio-visual experience that is hard to get absorbed in.
A feature film adaptation of a Stephen King novel that feels more like the dated King TV miniseries from the 80’s and 90’s. A sloppy, hollow, shell of a story that is neither entertaining enough to enjoy or intriguing enough to entice further exploration. This is surely to disappoint everyone.
