Gabby’s review published on Letterboxd:
I like the film, very different from typical war films. The characters felt like a character and not just some pawns.
My issue with the film is the way Malick presented most of the characters. Adrien Brody felt like he was lost in the film. He acts very well but there is no context. Then, I read that Adrien Brody thought he was the lead role of the film, but Malick cut out most of his performance.
I think there are many parts of the film was cut, and I don't think that it did good to the film.
Anyway, I love all the technical aspects of the film. I love the score, the cinematography, the sound, the visuals. It is worth watching, but I wish Terrence have a good way of presenting the stories in his films.
