George Clark’s review published on Letterboxd:
To be fair I haven’t read the book, nor knew nothing about the premise outside of the initial trailer that played before every film…but honestly I really enjoyed Where the Crawdads Sing. The flashbacks to Clark’s life at a young age, plus the relationships between Tate and Chase, really worked for me and while it’s slow at times, I found myself interested by it for its entirety. While I hated the ending, older then just never worked, I really enjoyed Daisy Edgar-Jones‘ lead performances and Taylor John Smith, Harris Dickinson and David Strathairn were great as well. Of course it’s got a myriad of problems, pacing, ending, you name it…but I was truly interested by the story and thankfully that’s what ultimately won me over. It’s not fantastic by any means but Where the Crawdads Sing had me invested throughout!
