Hope this gets a "How Did This Get Made" episode. Worth a RedBox rental with a friend that's good at cracking jokes.

Enjoyed some of the effects and any with a dog as a main character will get me on board but Dylan Obrien was kind of annoying. He was doing this Jay Baruchel thing that didn't really work. Decent production values but the fact that almost everyone else in this movie is Australian took me out of it. Not worth an hour plus trip to the drive-in...

    The Babysitter

Fun movie with an energy that seems borrowed from better movies but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Samara Weaving is highly watchable and is the Harley Quinn Margot Robbie wishes she could be.

  • Bolt

My son fucking loves this movie so now I've seen it way more times than I would have ever intended. Having said that it hasn't become annoying to watch and Travolta is surprisingly well cast. Most recently it has occurred to me that parents going into this movie blindly probably will be genuinely confused when the show within the movie reveals the true plot of the movie. It makes me smile.

  • Blade

This movie holds up so well. Just a great confluence of elements that solidified into something much better than it should have been. I may prefer the sequel but Blade is a classic that transcends 90s action cinema, a huge pre-cursor to The Matrix, probably more than an inspiration.

Delightful because white people were portrayed accurately as villains. Beautiful animation that occassionally clashes with not very well integrated computer assistance.

  • The Beyond

    The Beyond

Do Not Entry! Lucio Fulci was probably turned on by eye-ball stuff. This had some gory effects that looked pretty great and was pretty well shot. Everything else is a no but worth the crazy ride. Entry at your own peril!!!

Black Mirror if it was written by 70s Dr. Who writers. This was quite the ride, not a fun one but we got there.

MISSING: One film ending, if found please report. The ending to this film has disappeared like the apparitions in this film. Ending might include resolution of some sort, please return on sight.

  • After Midnight

    After Midnight

This was a somewhat admirable attempt at something. In a way I felt that this movie had potential and was maybe going for something but just didn't quite make it. Felt long for an 83 minute but mostly because most horror movies don't have multiple monologues about relationships in them. I wanted to like this but it just didn't connect, something was missing to make it work.

  • Silent Hill

    Silent Hill

Some neat visuals can't save a pretty boring movie that seems faithful to the game. I've never played the game but this movie feels like 7 hours of gameplay. Bonus points for having a Konami code Easter egg.

  • The Shining

    The Shining

Probably my favorite horror movie because of the psychological reality of the situation. Obviously the movie is even more relevant with its theme of being isolated with your family. This movie will always hold up and is definitely better than the book. To his credit Stephen King has some major cojones for remaking it.
