Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) ★★★½

Las Vegas Weekly review. Had a good time with this moment-to-moment, though it doesn't add up to much in the end. Single-shot illusion only bugged me during significant leaps forward in time; it generally has a clear purpose and rarely strives to look impossible. And please stop defensively whining about the Times critic, friends and colleagues. Everyone's a caricature here. Do you think Norton believes he's demonstrating what Method actors are really like? Duncan's bitter scribe doesn't even apply to you, frankly—neither Kael nor Canby nor Siskel & Ebert nor whoever you like has ever wielded even a smidgen of the power possessed by the chief NYT drama critic, and that's what's really being addressed here.
