Watching this from within a mile of where Russell's flat is supposed to be created an interesting experience. I don't think I've ever seen a film (well, a *good*, notable film) set and shot in an area I know really well before, so this was always going to hit close to home for me. Haigh certainly got a lot out of using the actual locations. As a narrative about living an empty life devoid of meaning and purpose in Nottingham, this pretty much gutted me. Otherwise, yes, excellent film, great use of visual storytelling, etc etc, but this film meant a lot to me for very personal reasons.
