    One of my favourite films.
    Patrick Marber is a genius of a writer.
    He wrote this story in a remote irish writers retreat.
    He wanted a sort of Shakespearean scene, with someone in disguise, so he spent an hour in a cyber cafe and went into a lesbian chatroom pretending to be a gay woman. He wanted to impersonate someone else. Then, while walking his dog in Postman’s Park in London, he stumbled on a memorial for Alice Ayres who…

    Beautifully crafted with bountiful sexual tension and malaise about the affairs of the heart. Non the less distractions occur from the two and the stock market is used as a clever and carcophanous metaphor to their tulmoltuous  relationship. 

    I have used the opening scene to this film so so many times in lectures and talks.
