The loosest narrative the Coens have done and their most soulful. The Coens cyclical thematics comes full circle (hehe) in this film as we reach a more self reflective film on trying to follow a passion and trying to establish yourself on your own. Llewyn rejects community and the future in hopes of isolating himself from his own pain yet it only brings him more trouble as the film goes on. Sometimes life isn’t about running away and being on your own. Sometimes you need help. Sometimes you aren’t the lead character in your life. Sometimes you need to share the spotlight. Sometimes you need to move on with the essence of whatever you have left of that community that seems to be gone. The Times They Are A-Changin’.
