NashFilm50 #1: JOJO RABBIT
A very endearing, funny and creative take on the rise of the Nazi regime. Taika Wattiti is a true talent behind the camera and in front of it. Only real issue is some pacing and weird choices towards the end. All of the acting is great, production and costume design are really good. It’s very well shot, and the music is pretty great. However, Wattiti is the real standout. Being a Jew and playing Hitler is pretty ballsy on its own, but the guy pulls it off. It really elevates the film’s commentary in a way that hasn’t exactly been done on film before. This is one of the most unique films of the year for sure. Can’t wait for everyone to see it.
