She has surrendered to a joy known only by the insane. She has lost herself completely, and she is finally free. It is horrible and it is beautiful.
From its chilling opening to the shocking ending, Ari Aster's Midsommar has no doubt become my favorite movie this year. Never before had I felt the way I did when watching a movie until Midsommar. Through some of the most tightly tense scenes I could feel my whole body shaking. At the same time though I felt this weird sense of peacefulness along side dread. The weirdest mix of emotions.
Florence Pugh is the obvious standout delivering on a heavy performance as Dani. Possibly my favorite performance from a film this year. She definitely deserves all the praise she is getting.
Midsommar is a movie experience I definitely won't forget and one I can't get my mind off. Can't wait to see what Ari comes up with next!
