I don’t typically like melodramas but this one was pretty good.
I really loved this movie. It’s got a great plot and execution, but you do have to suspend some disbelief and just buy into the fact that, not only do numerous events in Jamal’s childhood allow him to answer questions correctly; but, the questions are all told in ORDER of how they happened in Jamal’s childhood!! I mean, we couldn’t have one more return to the great scenes of Jamal and his brother’s youth?
Anyway, I really enjoyed this and would recommend it.
Better than I remembered, and it probably deserves more credit than I usually give it. I still think that it’s a little long (especially the scenes that are like the epilogues of the trilogy). But it definitely deserves 4 stars, and it’s probably my second-favorite of the trilogy.
Maybe an unpopular opinion but I really don’t like this movie, especially compared to other Scorsese films. It definitely doesn’t do anything new, and it even gets to be too big for what it should be. I’m happy Scorsese got the awards he deserved with this film, but it may not even be in my top 10 of his.
