Violent 2014
after finishing this film, I questioned myself a lot. did I surround myself with the love that I deserve? will I be able to look back fondly on the life I made for myself, or the impact I've had on the lives of those I love? and ultimately.. I don't know. I'd like to think I have a lot of time left to answer those questions, but I don't know that for sure either. as they say in the film;…

Tokyo Sonata 2008
As many know, I love horror. It's by far my favourite genre. Personally, I think the best horror films are the ones that really get at what it means to be human. The films that aren't afraid to get into humanity's deepest flaws, its greatest fears, or its biggest struggles. Films that understand the horrors of every day life.
This just so happens to be Kiyoshi Kurosawa's biggest strength as a filmmaker. Though I've only seen 3 of his films…

Saw X 2023
personally, I love this franchise. not that most of the movies are good, some of them are god awful, but they are a fun, hot mess of a time and I can't stop watching them. luckily, this one is surprisingly good. or maybe just relatively good compared to some of the lesser saw movies, but I had fun with this one and I think it's easily the best since the original for sure

No One Will Save You 2023
For a while, this movie was basically "what if the 3rd act of Signs was all of Signs" and I really enjoyed that, and then at one point, the movie becomes something else entirely, and I really liked that too. Unsurprisingly great performance from Kaitlyn Dever, and I like how much the director/writer used visual storytelling rather than dialogue. Between this and Nope, I am really hoping we get a bit of an Alien movie renaissance, because there's not been…

The Menu 2022
conceptually, this is one of my favourite movies all year. I'm hesitant to rate it 5 stars, so I won't til I see it again, but I love just about everything presented here and I'm not saying much about it, but the direction this took thematically was pretty incredible and this was overall just a really well made movies from a director that I never cared all that much for before

Nope 2022
I'm really hoping this leads to more alien movies because WOW!!!! I have been waiting for this movie for well over a year now and the hype was astronomical, and Nope fully lived up to that hype. I'm always going to lean a bit higher on alien movies, frankly, because they're one of my favourite subgenres of sci-fi/horror, this was exactly what I wanted it to be and even more. The scene with Gordy roughly halfway through was one of…
