    I made this video about Mirrors and the magical properties they possess, as well as how they’ve been used throughout film history, which sort of inadvertently looped around to demonstrate how mirrors are scary / dangerous. Check that out if you’re interested. Us is chock full of mirrors, so I used that shot from the beginning where Red meets Adelaide because it’s always terrified me. And this movie still does really scare me.

    But I’m not sure if it scares…

    Basically Where’s Waldo? The Movie. Show this to modern audiences and guaranteed they hate it; my sister made it 45 minutes before bailing, but honestly I thought good for her for having that much patience.

    French Crime and Punishment. So much so that I’m almost shocked Dostoevsky didn’t get a writing credit.

    At its best when Bresson is following the process of pickpocketing: the tension and nerves of the build up, the romantic beauty of the steal itself. Even his patient observation of the characters is admirable… But the story is just not up to snuff. Michel isn’t 1/10 as interesting a character as Raskolnikov, and when half of the beats are just rehashed from C+P in Bresson’s dry style, I start to ask, “What’s the point?”
