The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part

"The Lego Movie 2" for the most part lives up to the standard its predecessor set, with the same imagination, fun vibrancy, self-aware humor, and some of the cleverness - only this time its less clever, more random, and the emotional center is lost a bit... still enormously fun entertainment.

  • Braveheart

For all its historical inaccuracies (not a good reason to dismiss a movie), I admire "Braveheart" on a technical level - it is indeed a big sprawling epic with large brutal sword battles and gratifying imagery - however, I believe Mel Gibson is miscast and undermines his own ambitions by making this a cheesy vanity project.

  • Snowpiercer

Commendable simply for the brilliant allegory of a train in the post-apocalyptic future divided by the upper and lower class, this train builds plenty of momentum, making "Snowpiercer" a unique force of moral dilemmas, creative compact action, stylish violence, gallows humor, and acting that sells the weary conditions they are reduced to.

  • Roma

Emotions swell in Alfonso Cuaron's totally moving and cathartic portrait "Roma," a nostalgic celebration of the universe that explores life-affirming themes, enriched with genuine performances and vivid imagery.
