A captivating character study with grief, loss, guilt and friendship at the centre of it all.

I did not think that it needed to be 3hrs long but I still enjoyed the ride.. πŸš—

The characters are likeable and I found the conversations shared to be interesting. My absolute favourite was the deaf character - Lee Yoon-a (Park Yu-rim), I thought she was mesmerising to watch.

I loved watching the friendship develop between Kafuku (Hidetoshi Nishijima) and Misaki (TΓ΄ko Miura). The trip to her old home was beautiful to watch.

I really liked the cinematography and the variety of camera shots too. Sound was also used really well.

So overall, your enjoyment will probably depend on if you are happy watching great actors have deep and meaningfuls, which I'm definitely a fan off. I'm less of a fan of epic runtimes but I'd still probably watch this again at some point. I'm glad it won the International Oscar.
