This is one of those really rare occurrences where I rewatch a movie I hated the first time, and I end up really enjoying it on the second viewing. Maybe I was in the wrong headspace when I first saw this a few years ago. Maybe I expected something else. Maybe I just wasn’t ready for it. I don’t even know. But this is really good.

I was really looking forward to finally watching this one but it just didn’t hit me the way I’d hope it would. There’s also a lot more humor in here than I thought there’d be but I never laughed at any of it. The Tyler character was infuriating to watch, and a lot of the other characters seemed underused. Ralph Fiennes is a heck of an actor, and his performance was genuinely creepy, but there’s just not enough other things in here for me to love.
