Giovanni’s review published on Letterboxd:
Blow tries to be like a Scorsese movie and for the most part, fails. It got the music right, though. The soundtrack was great.
I think this film's biggest problem is it's incredibly fast pace. Movies with a fast pace are great, but they have to be put together well. Characters in this film aren't really developed. It's just a bunch of scenes where people are doing stuff involving drugs. And then sometimes Johnny Depp's narration tries to tie it together. This thing ends up being a mess.
With all of that said, I still think the performances were fine. Ray Liotta was my favorite. And I'm always happy to watch a movie where Johnny Depp isn't playing a cartoonish, and weird character. It's just too bad that character, and the rest of the characters in this movie had nothing interesting to offer.
