Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood 2019
35mm at the New Bev.
Tarantino’s ultimate accomplishment. It’s safe to say at this point, 12+ views later, that it’s a goddamned masterpiece and one of the great films of the 21st century. There’s a reason we’re all getting pulled to it over and over again: there’s nothing quite like it. Not ever. Career bests for both Brad and Leo and what have you got? Something special. Demons 2 1986
Count me among the minority of people who prefer this to the first. The movie theater setting of the first film is iconic but gets kinda samey after awhile. Bava and Argento wisely set the sequel in an apartment building where we get scenes that play out in elevator shafts, parking garages, gyms, air vents, stairways, and the individual apartments of our protagonists. And there’s just more nightmare fuel. Not to mention the pumped up candy colors. It’s hard to imagine a better movie to put on at Halloween.
