Wonder Woman is not a landmark superhero film by any means. The plot is just as absurd as any other such film, the villains just as pantomime, and the lines just as cheesy.
However, what Wonder Woman gets so, so right is the hero. The supporting cast are solid, and they are given things to do, but what can I say about Gal Gadot that hasn't already been said? In a word: captivating.

Poor Dreamworks had been associated with sub-standard animated outings for a while before the release of How to Train Your Dragon. A slightly unfair perception perhaps, as three years earlier saw the release of the comparitively decent Kung Fu Panda. I'll admit this film passed me by at that time for precisely this reason. An exercise in persistent dread rather than plot unpredictability, the film examines the tragic inevitability of conflict. Andy Serkis carries the film from start to finish, but man does he carry it (give the man an oscar already). Alas, all the human characters are dull as a broken bulb, but the highs are worth the lows.
Likeable characters and a typical Rowling plot of twists and turns, but the nomaj Kowalski is the star of the show. Tonally different enough to warrant its own series and general lack of fan service make this a worthy entry.
