You've Got Mail

This is super charming in how dated it is, and in how it captures how the Internet empowers people to connect. It's also great in how it makes me really appreciate Gregory's Girl. For whatever reason, I can't help but think of that slice of charm (this is all about charm) and how Gregory doesn't spend the film manipulating another human being. I don't understand what Meg Ryan was feeling at the end, when Tom Hanks reveals it's been him this whole time. I would feel humiliated and betrayed and destroyed, see, if someone destroyed my livelihood and passion, lied to me about who they were, repeatedly stood me up, and owned a dog. (Wait, what.)
