Performances outweigh the triteness of the film's overall narrative and issues. It's a film that knows what it is and isn't trying to be that complete cutting social dissection but rather a light look at this story which has heart but nothing that will make it memorable years on.
A movie in which I sort of enjoyed pretty much every character and most of their "bigger" beats in the film. from Sterling K. Brown's crazed bad guy-ness, Thomas Jane's twitching curses, Trevante "Chirone" Rhodes' all over badassness and Keegan Michael-Key's jokes. However, the film is overall a bad movie and just feels lazy filmmaking on the whole with a plot that is boring as ever.
If we we're at the time of Predator where we knew it jumped the shark for fighting a Xenomorph? This film in comparison makes those film's plots seem high brow.
