This is the worst thing I've ever seen, and not like in a "my brain broke and now I can't stop laughing at how bad it is" sort of way. At least GNFOS and Freddy Got Fingered did that to me.
Nadine Labaki made this film because it's bad form to wear a hat that says "I'm A Poverty Tourist". It's self-fladulent shlock that makes me think we've all been too hard on "Precious: based on the novel Push byโฆ
Without question, along with Close-up, my favourite film.

A 6'3" panda bear shaped place in my heart belongs to True Stories and its lovable quirks. You could write it off as pointless, but that would be reductive to its entire essence.
David Byrne had one movie in his mind to make, and it was this earnest little gem.
It's introspective, poignant, the satire is biting at times, and it feels like a benevolent videogame like Earthbound or Animal Crossing. And frankly i would distrust anyone who doesn't like this film.
