James Atkinson’s review published on Letterboxd:
A stark contrast to my last film (The Wizard of Oz), I have gone form joyous music, vivid colours and unbridled optimism to bleak, vile and disgusting in Cannibal Holocaust.
I love horror and I love gore but I love it as escapism and this nasty bit of cinema isn't much for escapism, it's one of those films (like Blood Sucking Freaks and others alike) that just makes you feel dirty watching it. Saying that however, I do appreciate the cultural impact this film has had and respect the realism of it, everything but the acting feels very authentic.
It definitely deserves the notoriety that it has and still does receive.
