SPOILERS AHEAD - DO NOT READ
First off, this movie was dark and horrific for a super hero movie. You can say whatever you want about DC trying to catch up with Marvel, but the superhero "blueprint" and the plot/storyline "formula" are night and day different. The superhero-to-society relationship is awesome. It's unique, dynamic, and driven by a darkness yet to be seen in superhero films. The narrative of a hero and his town has totally shifted. And it's awesome.
Superman is a tragic hero. Tormented by his perception of being super and the sharp contrast with what society thinks, his struggle is truly one of a "God" figure that sits above the world. His struggle lies in a human allegiance to people who view him as a fearful God.
Batman is consumed by anguish and grief. He has built himself on a foundation of hate and frustration with his past. Bruce Wayne is a desperate and broken man, clutching to reality and purpose by way of being a destructive and horrifying force.
Lex Luther is a horrifying, scatter brained maniac that is literally out of control. Jesse Eisenberg was phenomenal. I am intrigued to see how they grow and develop his character moving into the future. He's manipulative and evil. Pure freaking evil.
Here's the thing. If anyone wants to complain about accuracy and comparing these characters to "the comics," they need to get a grip and CHILL. It's a movie, not a comic book. I'm glad they're being original and redefining the roles of these characters.
ALSO don't be too hard on this movie. Don't talk about cheesey moments, weak character development, or anything like that if you're a die hard fan of the Marvel movies. That would be the pot calling the kettle black.
