My favorite aspects of the Coen brothers' filmography are their grit and sense of humor. The majority of the A-list actors gave a somewhat graphic but nonetheless intensely dynamic performance in Burn After Reading (2008). It's a spy movie with hints of nihilism scattered throughout. Everyone here had their own range and wavelength, but as seen, the one that stood out to me was Frances McDormand. She really knew what she was doing.
He was brutal with his words. Still, though, he's just like anyone else really. We're all God's creatures in the dark.
very atmospheric and for the second time, i feel claustrophobic every time paul mescal appears on-screen. a thought-provoking, polarizing a24 film that lands equal hits and misses.
