Lumière and Company

A little bit of a cheat here: I didn't actually watch this film; just Lynch's contribution. It's a bizarre and captivating 52 seconds of film that is so wack-a-doodle that it begs to be seen over and over just to absorb what it is you are seeing. I think I've seen this short about 10 times (the first time I ended up watching it on repeat about 3 or 4 times). It's a pure experiment in texture. You can feel Lynch's fascination with this old technology and the possibilities unleashed by such primitive limitations. Unclassifiable and unrateable. Hopefully one day I can take this time to track down and watch all of the shorts but until then I am completely satisfied with just Lynch's effort.
