My star ratings are based on nothing and I go back to change them all the time.
Secret Ceremony 1968
Was most impressed by Gerry Fisher's cinematography, how all the colors stand out. There's a scene where Elizabeth Taylor wears this gorgeous purple short dress with matching hat and purse, and that purple looks like just about the most beautiful thing ever put on screen.
I mean, yeah, it definitely delivers on its premise and how can you not have fun with that? Patty Mullen in particular, once she's revived, was so funny and a joy to watch; her facial expressions kept cracking me up. And just when you think you've seen everything, there's a stripper wearing sandals.
The Deep House 2021
The concept is really, really cool. It's so cool, in fact, that by itself it could almost carry the whole movie. Almost.
Miracle on 34th Street 1947
I, too, refuse to believe in Santa until he buys me a house. Ball's on his court now.
