The more I think about what this does philosophically to the previous two movies, the more profound and impactful it feels. Any claim that the Matrix 1 is empty power fantasy is torn apart by this entry. Surrendering is power. Conformity cannot erase ourselves. Even in the real world, our bodies are our own.
Full on wept multiple times. There’s plenty to talk about with the movie’s depiction of an idealized rural Japan and the effortless, giving connection to nature, but it was the human relationships that hit me this time around.
