okay this is a movie friends were often surprised i’d never seen. so for years I stayed intentionally ignorant because I knew, whenever I saw it, I wanted to go in completely cold. And I did that successfully! I knew it was a Talking Heads concert film and that was it. Didn’t even know who directed it. Only specific to the film I knew was a big suit would appear at some point. half a star docked for the music. weird score decision that probably made sense then but felt so Of An Era. to my 2023 ears, this movie's tone didn't fit with the score. felt like I was watching a sitcom. If they made this type of comedy in 2023 you'd have to give it, like, 70% less music. Too much score. And not to be corny but it's fucking Mamet. let the dialogue be the music. Baldwin's entrance had me hooting alone in my apartment. And not to be grim but we gotta put Patti in more movies before it's too late
