• Pleasantville

    Pleasantville

    ★★★★

Smart movie that I feel gets lost in the school system as an isekai racial segregation movie when it tackles so much more in the first two acts. Sometimes the allegories are far too on the nose. Love the film for playing around with the idea of television as a state of reality.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

    ★★★

Lots of political commentary that hits harder today than in 2006. Great snapshot of America that only goes too far a couple of times. A must watch.

  • Willy's Wonderland

    Willy's Wonderland

    ★★★

There was so much I wanted to love but the non-Cage moments were not good. Felt very much like watching a video game play out for an hour and a half. The Cage stuff is pure cinema though so I have to give it the 3 stars.

  • Color Out of Space

    Color Out of Space

    ★½

An hour and 42 minutes of rising tension just for the biggest bullshit the director decided to feed you. Can be kinda smart and kinda cringe when it wants to be but for the most part it's too drawn out to deliver on its constant need to assault your eardrums with the tension sound effect.

  • Pulp Fiction

    Pulp Fiction

    ★★★★½

This has been the fifth time I've watched this movie in the last 8 years and I can safely say this is STILL one of my favorite movies of all time. The second act is a little bit too hard of a transition but the rest works so well it's easy to gloss over it. It's much easier to see the racism rampant among white people in the film when I'm in a dissecting position but to Tarantino he directs it as nothing but brutal honesty of white people when not filmed for entertainment. Always refreshing to see and a great movie to just vibe to.

  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2

    Sonic the Hedgehog 2

    ★★★★

Sonic 2 fixes much of the cop apologia the first one had while pulling off shit that they knew the fans would enjoy. Knuckles and Eggman punch far above their weight with Jim Carrey pushing the PG rating as far as it can go. Tails was intensely mid, his origin story being a stalker SIMP to Sonic following some events of the first movie was low-key embarrassing.

Probably the best videogame movie in recent history who's biggest crime is somewhat…

  • The Batman

    The Batman

    ★★★

It's Batman vs 4Chan as the Channers get some absolutely based Ws on the caped crusader. The movie hits more than it misses but it's so ideologically conflicted and long in the tooth to be anything more than 3 stars for me.

A must watch for every American.

  • Vice

    Vice

    ★★★★

Christian Bale gives one of his best performances with kudos mostly given to the insane neck training he had to do for the movie.

Great detail on just how fucked our so-called 'democracy' is. Cheney's rise had it all: what we now call 'Trumpian' rhetoric, close-call elections, behind-the-scenes crowning of cabinet positions in charge of shaping world-affecting policy decisions, massive promotion of right-wing ideology, all resulting in the exploitation and misery we see today.

All for what? Just to keep…

  • The Adam Project

    The Adam Project

    ★★★½

Great time travel movie that is only really hampered by how much you like Ryan Reynolds brand of snark.

  • Power Rangers

    Power Rangers

    ★★★

Underrated movie that absolutely deserved a sequel. What failed to push it over the top had to have been the absolute disaster the audio production was and the lack of actual Ranger fighting. Could have easily snipped the training montage failing for 11 days straight.

  • Coco

    Coco

    ★★★½

This movie could have easily been portrayed as a class issue for not wanting your grandson to be a musician instead of working at the family business that's been alive for generations. Instead we get an unrelatable Hispanic family with genocidal hate for anyone who picks up the guitar.

Outside of that weird plot device the adventure of self-discovery and embracing your artistic side was a lot of fun and the tunes were above average. Kid should have been more likeable though, his decisions are all shit lmao. Not my son committing grave robbery for a free instrument.
