Too short of a movie to really get any deep political analysis outside of maybe the Rita character. A comedy of its time that fails to live up to the pop culture status it has. Decent ending at least.

Zola 2020
I was on Twitter with an old account when this thread was first unleashed to the public and I remember it getting kinda boring around tweet #58. Kind of the same thing with this movie. Audio engineer did a horrible job with the atmosphere. I give it the additional half star for capturing how gross and racist sex work can be.

Everything Everywhere All at Once 2022
A beautiful film that sometimes gets a little too self-indulgent for its own moral messaging.

Southland Tales 2006
Thought about it in the shower some more, imagined an 08 Recall where right wingers made CLIT/LOSERMAN signs and started smiling. Then I remembered that one reviewer who said Donnie Darko predicted 9/11 and shouted "Oh fuuuuuck youuuuuuuu"

Judas and the Black Messiah 2021
“The white liberal is the worst enemy to America, and the worst enemy to the black man …. If the Negro wasn’t taken, tricked, or deceived by the white liberal then Negros would get together and solve our own problems. I only cite these things to show you that in America the history of the white liberal has been nothing but a series of trickery designed to make Negros think that the white liberal was going to solve our problems."- Malcolm X

Pleasantville 1998
Smart movie that I feel gets lost in the school system as an isekai racial segregation movie when it tackles so much more in the first two acts. Sometimes the allegories are far too on the nose. Love the film for playing around with the idea of television as a state of reality.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan 2006
Lots of political commentary that hits harder today than in 2006. Great snapshot of America that only goes too far a couple of times. A must watch.
