Puss in Boots: The Last Wish 2022
I went into this movie fully prepared to love the animation (and I did seriously love the animation) but what I wasn’t prepared for was how well this movie adapts the formula that made the original Shrek work 20 years ago and refine it for a modern era. The fairy tale satire is there, but rather than bog it down in pop culture jokes and references that risk being dated, the movie instead creates a timeless, humorous and heartfelt romp that feels like an animated Princess Bride.
