Blue Beetle 2023
This second viewing following my screening on Monday made this film so much better to me. Derivative of much of the tropes, but Xolo Marideuña is *fantastic* and everything revolving around the Reyes family is just so sincere and sweet, and the emotional beats just hit harder this time around.

The Conjuring 2 2016
The Conjuring 2 is the rare sequel that is on par with its predecessor. I may give the slight edge to The Conjuring, but that is not a discredit to this film. With its impeccable, old-fashioned filmmaking, well-developed characters topped off with great performances, much-needed levity to help ease the tension, and a fantastic climax, The Conjuring 2 is yet another home run for director James Wan.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness 2022
#MultiverseOfMadness is at its best when Sam Raimi gets to let his certified freak flag fly. Out of all the MCU films, besides maybe James Gunn’s Guardians flicks, this one clearly feels like *his*.
The third act is a contender for the best of any MCU flick. Cumberbatch is in top form here, and Olsen continues her WandaVision streak with flying colors. The film is iffy when it comes to certain fan-service, and that honestly is the least interesting part of the surprises.
