    the moment that iconic opening for take me to the pilot played was far and away the greatest plot twist/crossover event i have ever experienced. i almost fell off my chair. and that was the moment, the moment i realised ben platt may very well be one of the best humans alive today.

    the big 700!

    not going to lie, i did not expect my 700th film to be something like this. i had anticipated it would be something grand and elaborate and blockbuster-y, a classic perhaps. but somehow, i ended up here when my mum wanted to watch a ‘light-hearted film’ and then ended up walking out midway through anyway. nevertheless, i persisted, having read surprisingly glowing reviews of this film and...they’re not wrong.

    i must admit, while i enjoyed Apocalypse Now, Hearts of Darkness, much punchier and succinct, kept me far more invested. in doing so, though, it made me feel a greater appreciation towards the film and the painstaking process it took to create it. when i am feeling up to it again and have a better attention span, i will revisit Apocalypse…

    i cried 5 times throughout 1917. i cried a sixth time when the credits started rolling and i realised i hadn’t even recognised colin firth in the movie. sad times.
