• The Worst Person in the World

The Worst Person in the World

One of the most modern looks at the messiness of relationships. I love movies that’s sole purpose is just “none of us are good at love” because we categorically aren’t. This delivers on all fronts especially the dialogue which felt heart wrenchingly authentic without going overboard on the smart word play.

Put more films into chapters, it tricks me into thinking long movies are short

  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

As SOON as this comes out in 4K I’m repeating that scene of strange jumping off that balcony like a million times, fresh as all fuck!

I loved this more and more with every passing second, Sam Raimi came to slay and he passed with flying colours!

Multiverse of Madness has it all, some of the best direction and visual style since the Guardians films, most comic book feeling film in all the MCU, best villain to grace the MCU…

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

The Pirates movies for me are quintessential Saturday night viewing!

I want to know who went “HOLD ON, how about if Davy Jones played the organ with his tentacle face”

Full of fun, life, creativity and genuine darkness that Disney seems far too scared of currently!

It’s absolutely way too long but man it’s enjoyable!

  • The Suicide Squad

    The Suicide Squad

A brave man admits when he’s wrong…and I was wrong, this is great

The pacing is still rough, feels very long but the heart is there and so is the creativity

  • The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

Absolutely criminal to not even show a single frame of Paddington 2!

As silly as this film is, it made me feel warm! Giving some well deserved respect to Nick Cage and celebrating the joy that is cinema in all of its facets.

The toughest challenge for any comedy is to make the audience laugh and for not every punch line or joke landed. This movie was at its pinnacle when it was being super weird and goofy. The first…

  • The Outfit

    The Outfit

An interesting tense one location gangster thriller that sadly decides that twist upon twist upon twist is the ending they want to go for!

Other than a slightly weak third act, a slow pace and overly expositional dialogue this is a fun, original film. The montages were great, the brooding tension was on point, it just missed slightly

  • The Northman

    The Northman

A revenge story ✅ set in the Viking era ✅ directed by Robert Eggers ✅, I mean it’s a slam dunk!

As this has sat with me, I’ve grown to love The Northman more and more! This feels much more like a big studio film than Eggers past projects but he still manages to work his distinctive style and vision into this epic.

This is soaking with blood. It doesn’t hold back on the brutality. You can feel the force…

  • Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

Fantastic Beasts : The Secrets of Dumbledore continues my confused relationship with these movies. It may be the best of the trilogy…but none of them even come close to the majesty, excitement and, well, magic of the Harry Potter franchise.

Something about these movies really aim for “what’s the most confusing way to tell a story”. Future telling deer that choose the magic president…I’m baffled!

Newt is quite possibly the most uninteresting protagonist in modern cinema still forcing his way…

  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2

    Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Much better than the first…but still a way from being anything amazing!

This movie is long, like needlessly long! At 2 hours you feel the seconds tick by at times. But, it is overall an enjoyable ride!

It starts rather slow and gradually gets better as it stumbles towards the ending! The comedy is incredibly scattershot with some truly hilarious funny moments (talking fish head I’m looking at you) but it also has a healthy dose of cringey humour too,…

  • Turning Red

    Turning Red

More movies where when regular people see someone has “powers” or can turn into a red panda, they’re just chill with it

Pixar need to keep up there “one off story movies” because they’ve been on a god damn roll! I haven’t felt one misstep yet from them since Onward with Soul and Luca following as well!

Turning Red, which may be my least favourite of the other 3, certainly gives me what I wanted in spades! A cute story,…

  • Ambulance

Ambulance AKA Michael Bay bought a drone and he REALLLLLLLLY wants to show you

Corny, with poor editing and some questionable camera choices but damn is the film not entertaining

  • Morbius

I went into Morbius looking for a bad film that me and my mate could laugh at…this is so dull and boring that it’s a chore to find any form of levity.

After becoming the most delayed film in cinema, Sonys undead antihero wakes from its eternal slumber…where it probably should’ve stayed.

Everything just sucks. The editing, the script, the CGI and the score which at one point sounds just like the Dark Knight??

The plot is incredibly messy and…
