Gregory Kent’s review published on Letterboxd:
Eddie Murphy's latest comeback film is one that is full of filth, charm, and funny. There isn't anything earth shattering here, mostly a by the numbers biopic, but the formula fits well with this story. The script ventures a little to far into the obvious and the over-emphasized, but there is enough solid humor to keep things moving. The music is appropriate and wonderful, Snipes and Da’Vine Joy Randolph are really good in their roles, and the tone is refreshingly positive and loving.
