i sat hunched over for months… sewing, sweating, sewing

with both denis films this year i find them to be oddly neutral but for different reasons. i don’t prefer one over the other in some ways. stars at noon’s center is letting qualley do a lot to anchor a movie that is like a half-assed story mirroring some of denis’ own problems re politics in her filmmaking. the compositions are more alluring here than ever before at times, and the senses are retained until either the writing or the acting breaks it
