While, not to the same level, like WandaVision, we did get a softer ending to the overarching storyline than we expected it to, because they didn’t have the strong teases for the Thunderbolts, The Dark Avengers, and Eli Bradley and the formation of the Young Avengers. And I think another curveball this show has thrown at the audience is that a lot of the characters in this episode were in the grey zone morality wise, which has been one of the main themes of the show, and something Zemo clearly understands, because in the world they live in right now, there is no clear cut good and bad, they’re all just making it up as they go along. Though, Sharon in particular is really destroying the legacy of her Aunt so…
Overall, I think this episode did the bold and correct choice of mainly establishing Sam as Captain America, and why it’s so important he takes up the mantle, which is what the entire show has been about. And, he gives a very important, yet divisive speech at the end, because I can tell some people are gonna be upset by his hard truths, which he even addressed in the speech. My favorite things he mentioned in the speech was that everyone should have a seat at the table making the decisions that affect them, and the importance of representation and diversity. I also like that Sam is a positive representation/voice for change rather than a divisive one(Karli Morganthau). I also like that he acknowledges and accepts that some people just won't ever see him as a true Captain America, and then he has this amazing line where he says, “ The only power I have is that I believe we can do better”. I just think it was an incredible speech that worked well with his equally incredible new Captain America suit. Overall, I love the finale, I love the show, and I’m impatiently waiting for season 2!!
