Griffin Schiller’s review published on Letterboxd:
Literally a perfect fucking movie. If Batman Begins is a perfect Batman film, The Dark Knight transcends the comic book genre as a straight up Michael Mann crime epic. What I absolutely admire about Nolan’s second Batman film is while absolutely a second part of a trilogy, it wholeheartedly stands boldly on its own. You can watch The Dark Knight without having seen ANY previous Batman movies, comic book movies, or anything. It’s grappling of morality in the most desperate of circumstances is nothing short of provocative. Yet, even in the darkest times, Nolan puts his faith in humanity as he reminds us that people are willing to believe in good. The Dark Knight is mythic storytelling in a modern context grounded in reality. It’s more than a Batman film, it’s a cinematic game changer and over a decade later has remained on of the most influential films of all time.
