Guillermo Jiménez Gómez’s review published on Letterboxd:
America's Filmmaker is not slowing down.
A lot will be said about how precisely timed to current issues this movie is and though this is true (and shouldn't surprise us from a filmmaker who had so much about racism and da police pegged 30 years ago) I hope it doesn't go unnoticed how well Spike Lee's penchant for making five different movies and part of play to tell a story when one movie would have sufficed serves him here. What could have been a straightforward action movie is enriched by Lee's mastery of tone and genre. Romance, family drama, social history, documentary, war, adventure, faith: the gang's all here. Delroy Lindo is unleashed, though Chadwick Boseman is just as compelling as his polar opposite, near-religious leader and tragic mentor figure.
