  • Mona Lisa

    Mona Lisa

A melancholic study on men's urge to mythologise female beauty, foolishly, yet sincerely believing that "Mona Lisa" smiles 'cause she's thinking about them.

As a naive outlaw who craves to be a romantic hero, a White Knight who comes to the rescue of a Damsel in Distress and wins her heart, Bob Hoskins gives a mesmerizing performance. His response to Cathy Thyson's question if he ever needed someone is an extremely heartbraking moment.

  • Black Panther

    Black Panther

It doesn't have to resemble a cinematic offering anymore. Who cares about narrative coherence, mise-en-scene and stuff like that? As long as something has the Marvel logo at the beginning and a superhero fighting the Monster of the Week (a Malcolm-X surrogate here), people are happy, even if it's just a random mix of poorly edited set-pieces, uninispired CGI and pompous moments of empowerment and emancipation.

1968's first movie at the box-office was "2001". 2018's is "Black Panther". Times they are a changin' indeed.

    Knight of Cups

Malick's cinema might not be your cup of tea anymore. But if spiritual anxieties and internal search is in your weekly schedule, Knight of Cups can be an exhilarating experience.

  • The Shining

    The Shining

Instead of gradually revealing itself everytime you rewatch it, Stanley Kubrick's (not Stephen King's moralizing story of madness) The Shining gets much more complicated.

This is not a movie. It's a living organism. One that lives in your closet and comes out every time you close your eyes.
