What a high note for Chadwick’s career and legacy to go off on. He better win Best Actor, not only for the posthumous win that would feel disrespectful if not given, but also because he is genuinely amazing and gives one of the best performances I’ve seen this year. I’m really gonna miss seeing him in stuff after this. He fucking deserves this, and it would be one of the worst losses in Oscars history if he lost, up there with Michael Keaton losing for Birdman.
(Oh, and the movie is good too. A little too....stage-y I guess you could say for my taste, but I felt it was less tedious here than it was in other films like this. I felt the emotion more and there were a lot of fantastic scenes where the strong writing and performances shined. Not perfect but a worthy awards contender. Doubt is still the king of play-like movies tho.)
