  Annihilation wears its inspirations on its sleeves: Stalker, most notably, but references to Apocalypse Now, the Mandelbrot set, H.R. Giger, and 2001 abound. In turn, Annihilation influenced one of my favorite games, Control, and it was so cool seeing where the game picked up many of its ideas.

  Edit: Honestly this is a lot like Aftersun for me in that I think if I rewatch it, I'm probably gonna lose it. Not ready.

  UGH I wish I liked this more. Maybe I expected a bit too much going into the movie, because I was told to expect all these things about existential angst, malaise, etc. and that's usually good enough a reason to see a film.
