Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home ★½

Should have been titled Far from Spider-Man.

This is not really a Spider-Man movie. It's a tangential side quest of the bigger MCU/Avengers storyline, and one that doesn't even try very hard to utilize Spider-Man as Spider-Man (really, it could just as well have been Ant-Man here, or any other superhero in the MCU stable). Even if you were to forgive the film's complete disregard for its main character, you would still run into the inanity of a plot where Spider-Man is constantly shoehorned into plans where A) nobody at S.H.I.E.L.D. would have any reason to look up to him, and B) his skillset is worthless. If the last two Avengers films were the movie equivalent of Marvel's giant comic book crossover stories (think Secret Wars) then this is the cash-grab bullshit part where the big crossover story takes over a standalone title not because there's a good story to tell but because it's guaranteed to sell more copies to all the suckers who are willing to pay for the "whole story." Just as bad as Captain Marvel but for different reasons.

One good thing: The Mysterio sequence that closes out the second act is great. It's right there with the best "dream" sequences ever made.
