Not nearly as great as Ragnarok, and also not nearly as bad as the internet discourse would like you to think. Maybe the definition of a mixed bag movie. Worth watching for creepy Christian Bale alone!

Beautifully shot and incredible production design, but the internal logic of the world building wasn't very fleshed out. Either cut 30 minutes to make it more fast paced or spend the time to explain how this version of AI actually works.

It's really baffling to me that WB thought this level of grimdark dourness would appeal to a mass audience. In comparison, the Nolan Batman movies feel like lighthearted comedies.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

It's been a long time since I've seen a movie, that played with my expectations like Looper did. Just when you think you know how the plot will develop, it turns into something else. Though I must admit that I did expect a big, final twist a la 12 Monkeys that, surprisingly, never came. Still, Looper is a thrilling, well directed movie with fantastic acting (especially JGL's Bruce Willis impersonation), inspired production design, and the general feel of an instant-classic.
