Aguirre, the Wrath of God is possibly the most unique film I have ever seen. I feel like you watch every film in either a first or third person perspective. Films which are in 1st person are the ones which make you feel like you are right in the film and these typically grip you to your core. Others feel like they are in a 3rd person viewpoint where the whole time you are aware you are watching an incredibly…

Nolan’s masterpiece. I’m really not a Nolan guy and this was the last of his popular work I was yet to see and also the one I thought looked best. I’m a huge sucker for war films to the point where I might call it my favourite genre. I love seeing different directors takes on it wether it’s Malicks spiritualness, Kubricks cynicalness, or Spielberg’s undying patriotism. Everyone and their mother knows that Cristopher Nolan is obsessed with time. So many…

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

To say Rashomon is ahead of it’s time is an understatement. Every aspect of this feels so fresh and modern yet this was made over 70 years ago! This is Kurosawa’s most thematically rich film and he accomplished this in less than 90 minutes. Rashomon is one of the best films to talk about the human condition. It shows how we all have perspectives, we all lie, we all have a different world view. All the characters in this film…

I thought all night about the ending and although I’m not sure if it worked, it’s one of the ballsiest moves I’ve ever seen. Yes this is one of those slow long films but if you’re in the right mood you will see why this is so acclaimed. Loved the English representation as well.

Do you do the right thing or do you do the right thing. High and Low is the first film I’ve seen explore a moral dilemma in this way. I’ve always rated Kurosawa (who hasn’t?!) but this is the first time I realize why he is considered to be one of the goats. To have such a multilayered film in the genre owned by Hitchcock himself and have it stand out amongst all the others is special to say the…

I’ll keep it short: awesome film, even more awesome screenplay and Burt Lancaster is the goat. One of the tensest final 10 minutes I’ve ever seen. Such a brilliant film.
