In the Mood for Love ★★★★★

Scavenger Hunt #53 19/31

In the old days, if someone had a secret they didn't want to share... you know what they did?... They went up a mountain, found a tree, carved a hole in it, and whispered the secret into the hole. Then they covered it with mud. And leave the secret there forever.

This film did not disappoint. There's something incredibly intimate about the way the camera seems to hover across each scene like it's spying on our characters observing them unaware in their day to day lives. We get to see the characters in vulnerable and quiet moments and it paints a sad and beautiful picture.

I loved this. I loved Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung Chiu-wai and everything they conveyed with the minimal dialogue. Also this is cinema perfection.
