    Michael Gracey's debut is convincing across the board, supported by a very well acting ensemble.     Much more worse than feared ... The plot reveals the content of a He-Man cassette and the effects are so bad that you really have to see it to believe it! But that would make ridiculousness the only legitimate sight - more is not there to see. I would even suggest to replace the movie with a "Go on, there's nothing to see here" billboard. If you celebrate this one, you will also be looking forward to the next Transformers…

    Ein nettes Märchen, dass mit wenig Überraschungen, aber dafür mit fantasievollen Bildern daherkommt. Disney auf russisch und dabei an manchen Stellen sogar recht charmant umgesetzt. Man erkennt eine positive Entwicklung im russischen Kino und ich freue mich auf Nachschub an weiteren ambitionierteren Projekten - dass dafür notwendige Selbstbewusstsein ist jedenfalls bereits deutlich zu erkennen und sollte lediglich entsprechend filmisch übersetzt werden.

    Brian Taylor has delivered a small but fine and above all evil genre work that is really fun in places. He has to accept the accusation that he repeatedly inhibits the dynamics with unnecessary flashbacks, but with just 85 minutes running time you can overlook it. It's a pity, because the scenario would have offered enough starting points to do without useless filling material. Still, watching Cage and Blair maltreat their offspring is a pleasure, and it's still an entertaining…
