Well. I watched this a while ago and somehow forgot completely to review it.
So... this was surprisingly ‘meh’ to me. What started out as an interesting concept and fun story, filled with awesome pop culture references, ended up getting predictable and having a cliche, corny ending.
Visually, it’s stunning. The music is awesome (great 80’s vibes), the CGI is spectacular; as is the color grading.
But it just didn’t captivate me. I liked it up to a certain point, but the ending was cliche. I didn’t get it. Also, like... the actual prize wasn’t discussed very much.
I think this movie is cool, and it could have been great. The world is so interesting and it’s fun to watch it all unfold. The longer I think about it, the more I appreciate it, but it still isn’t something I’ll really remember by this time next year.
